Shibazakura festival, Ice Cave, Strawberry & wine tasting

Second day drink of the day. Delicious! It has a strong matcha taste.
It was the shibazakura season when we visited kawakuchiko. Sadly, it was raining and Mt Fuji was covered in clouds.
We visited around the last few days of April. Most of the shibazakura has already bloomed.
Shibazakura comes in a variety of colours beside pink. There are purple, white and mixture of colours.
There is even a small little cafe selling cakes and desserts which all looked so nice! Too bad for me coz I dun have the time to sit down and enjoy it as I was on a tour and time was limited.
There was also a small patch of colourful cosmos in full bloom. It looked so pretty!
Bought a bowl of hoto noodles which is a local type of noodles. It is broad and flat and taste like a less chewy version of udon. It was delicious and nice to eat something soupy and hot on a cold rainy day.
Spend some time in a ice cave nearby formed by volcanic eruption. It's freezing cold and my hands were numb.
Next is strawberry picking at a local fruit farm.
Turned out there weren't much strawberries to pick as most of them are already picked and placed at the table for us to eat. What a disappointment.
Next stop is wine tasting at this place called katsunuma winery. There were alot of grapes grown around the area.
After trying out a variety of wines, frankly speaking, it pales vastly in comparison to the Western wines. The wines made here lacked body and depth. Although the grapes are not suitable for making wines, it actually make v nice desserts. This ended the shibazakura tour that I signed up at japanican. Almost everyone is non japanese. The tour guide is a japanese lady who can speak v good English.
Ended the day after the tour by having dinner at Loccitane Cafe at Shinjuku.
We each ordered the set dinner which comes with a choice of main, drinks and dessert.  The bread is free flown and tasty. Food was nice and ambience was great as it was not crowded as most other places.
