Tamago-En at NEX

Tamago-En was opened last week at Serangoon NEX mall and we went to try it during a Sunday brunch time.
Luckily we were a bit early coz the queue start building up soon after. Some of the items in the menu was not available such as the all day breakfast items.

We ordered the oyako don and the berry pancake.

For more details on their menu, you can click here

The chicken meat used for oyako don was thigh meat, thus a bit fatty and bouncy in texture. The egg was beautifully cooked and soaked the rice in its eggy goodness. Pity I’m not a fan of chicken thigh meat.

The pancakes was absolutely delicious. It was well worth waiting for 30mins for it to be cooked. The pancake was v fragrant and soft, almost melting into your mouth type of softness, definitely better than the Japanese pancake I ate in 100am mall the last time. Could be due to the eggs I think.

As for the rest of the food,  not sure whether it’s good or not. But heard the lady sitting next to me complaining abt her egg Benedict not cooked well as it’s not the runny type...

Service was bit slow as the staffs were new and learning. Overall, I would try the pancakes again.

The Alley bubble tea

There have been many new bubble teas popping up in Singapore recently and we decided to try out this The Alley Lux, newly opened at cinelesiure at orchard yesterday. This was the second store and it’s first store was recently opened at the Jewel at Changi airport.

It’s located on the second level of cineleisure. There was constantly a queue but the line moved v fast and we waited for about 10mins before it’s our turn.

It’s actually famous for its brown sugar deerico milk drinks. But I’m not a fan of brown sugar so we decide to go for the snow velvet peach oolong tea and the northern lights drink.

The northern lights needs about 10mins wait as compared to the rest of the other drinks. It reminded me of a slurpee drink...but with bigger ice shavings. U need to shake it before drinking it, that’s what they said. It’s shame coz after shaking it, u dun see the blue colour anymore....and the whole thing becomes like a red colour and taste like some sweet berries sort of taste. For $8, it’s kinda pricy and not really worth it.

This is the snow velvet peach oolong drink. I like the snow velvet thing on top which is similar to the macchiato or 奶盖 thing and the peach taste is really strong and bit sweet such that it totally covers the taste of oolong. Don’t thing I’ll try it again.

Btw, it’s the sleeping snorax event for Pokémon go now. Managed to get a pic of snorax sleeping in the middle of the road at orchard...haha...quite fun!
